Proper Laboratory investigation is mandatory for the proper diagnosis and effective treatment and follow-up of diseases. The Hospital Medical Laboratory’s mission is to improve the health of the community we serve, by providing comprehensive, accurate and timely testing services 24 hours/day, seven days/week, facilitating emergency and routine Laboratory investigations round the clock.
To ensure its mission, the Medical Laboratory is equipped with the latest hi-tech automated in-house equipments, run by a team of highly qualified and licensed laboratory staff, managed by the “number one” CAP and ISO accredited laboratory in Kuwait; the United Laboratories. The Hospital’s laboratory established policies for all laboratory activities and is following Standard Operating Procedures, consistent with the Hospital’s commitment to “Excellence in Patient Care”.

Two types of services are available to the patients and clients:
- Tests performed on-site at Al-seef Hospital and /or the Central United Laboratories in Kuwait.
- Tests referred to referral internationally accredited laboratories
through a courier service (Biomnis Laboratories, France and others in Holland, USA, and the UK).

Our Medical Laboratories Department utilizes the highly advanced equipment and techniques, ensuring precise accurate and fast diagnosis. The automated Microbiology analyzers for blood cultures and all samples culture and antimicrobial sensitivity is unique in our hospital laboratory. The neonatal screening tests performed in our laboratory guarantees accurate and fast reporting which adds to our distinguished profile in Kuwait. The Laboratory computer system is connected to the hospital’s system and to other satellite centres which helps to facilitate easier and faster requests for tests, reporting of results, and continuous access of test reports / results

Sequential Multiple Analysis Computerized (SMAC) Test: The biochemical examination of various substances in the blood, such as albumin, blood sugar, bilirubin, calcium and cholesterol, using a computerized laboratory analyzer that produces a print out showing measured values of the substances tested. The number of tests usually follows the abbreviation (SMAC20 when 20 tests).

The Laboratory is fully equipped with the most up-to-date automated equipments, and is run by a team of highly qualified and licensed laboratory staff. The laboratory is affiliated locally with the Central United Lab., and internationally with biomnis laboratories in France.
