The Pediatrics Department at Al Seef Hospital provides a full range of specialized clinical services for children, from primary to tertiary care to the promotion of health and prevention of diseases. The Pediatrics Department also provides a wide range of services and care for all general pediatric conditions. Equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is one of the most generously outfitted in Kuwait. We care not only for neonates and premature infants, but also for children with acute life-threatening illnesses and postoperative patients.

Mission

Our mission as a multi-specialty Pediatrics Department is to provide primary to tertiary care for all children, including emergency services around the clock and child welfare and health education through parents and schools. Internally, we strive to cultivate a culture of Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) with regular quality assessments and audits, to ensure that all staff have the opportunity and encouragement to improve their skills and competency by participating in the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program.

Urgent Care Center

Located on the ground floor, our urgent care facility is manned full-time by professional pediatricians and nurses and is well-equipped to deal with cases in need of urgent attention.

General Pediatrics and specialty clinics

Al Seef’s seven out-patient pediatric clinics featuring observation and treatment rooms are located on Floor 3 of the hospital. The five general pediatric clinics, including the baby and child wellness clinic, are run by pediatric consultants and open daily. These clinics accept appointments as well as walk-in patients. Specialty clinics receive patients according to the schedules of specialty consultants. These include:

In-patient wards

Located on Floors 10 and 11, each pediatric ward has 13 in-patient rooms, all well-equipped and supervised by professional consultants, specialists, and registrars at all times.

Nursery

The Pediatrics Department at Al Seef Hospital has two nurseries capable of accommodating up to 15 babies each. The nurseries are supervised by specialized consultants, registrars, and nurses.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Located on Floor 5, the NICU has the capacity to accommodate eight babies, two in isolation. The NICU is specially equipped with the latest equipment to care for critically ill and premature babies. The NICU is staffed by consultants, specialists, and registrars with extensive experience in neonatal care.

Health Education

In addition to the routine care of our patients, the Pediatrics Department also provides educational classes and information on topics such as breast-feeding, febrile fits, tepid sponging, feeding and balanced diets, the importance of hygiene, home accident prevention, child safety, and immunization.
